Serendipity

On Monday, F. and I went to Balmerino to see the abbey ruins there. Only, we never quite made it to the abbey.

Instead, we were invited in for tea by one of the locals who saw us sitting outside the parish church. We ended up enjoying the hospitality of Alec and Judy, talking about academics and travel over tea and biscuits until we realised that we needed to go to catch our bus back to Town.

The abbey has been there for a few hundred years… it can wait for another day.

Balmerino also has the best bus shelter I have ever seen.

The brush, I suspect, is for brushing off the bench. Which had cushions hanging beside it if you so desired. But yes, the bus shelter had curtained windows. How can you get better than that?
