A lullaby

Once upon a time I slept the night through and wasn’t so exhausted during the day. This morning I woke up at 4 AM. I opened a window because it was stuffy. The only other creature awake at that hour was a little bird somewhere, singing away. I listened to it until I fell back to sleep.

I don’t like that waking in the middle of the night and not being able to go to sleep feeling, but I do love those little mysterious things that you hear and/or see…they remind me of God’s love for us.

I want to know what kind of bird it was! When I heard birdsong at night I used to think it was blackbirds, because of the lyrics ‘blackbird singing in the dead of night’, but it seems like it might be a robin, as apparently they will sing all night by streetlights.
    There is sound here:

I’d love it to be a nightingale, but they don’t arrive until March, and not this far north apparently. 😦

Anyway, I am taking your birdsong as proof that Spring is slowly creeping closer.
