The Hunt for Gollum

For true fans of Middle Earth, who have read the appendices, this movie is going to be a real treat. A bunch of indie filmmakers have adapted Aragorn’s hunt for Gollum and are making it into a 40-minute film. It will be released May 3rd as a free download (!). It’s not-for-profit, made by fans for fans, and it looks AWESOME. I can’t wait!

Oh, and there’s another one about the Dunedain called Born of Hope. The trailer is here.

OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!! THIS LOOKS SO GREAT!!! I wonder if they would make one about the further adventures of Gimili and Legolas? I usually don’t go for FF, but this looks great!

If by FF you mean fanfic, I don’t think this applies as fanfic… because they’re drawing from the text itself, you know? Appendices, the Sil, etc. I mean, it is fiction, and fans are making it, but you know. Did you watch the “Born of Hope” trailer, too? They both look quite promising, hee.

You know, I was wondering if someone would do Legolas & Gimli. I was looking up some info about The Hobbit and apparently there are going to be TWO films: one for The Hobbit and another as a bridge between it and LOTR. Which, of course, got me thinking about a happy little fantasy world where they just kept making more and more films from the appendices, the Sil, Children of Hurin, etc.

I think the Gollum one looks good, the trailer was promising; the trailer for the other wasn’t quite as explanatory (in my opinion) but it looks interesting as well 🙂
